New works by Greg Caffrey launch in Emo National School, Co. Laois.

Following their recent new build programme, Emo N.S. Portlaoise, Co.Laois engaged Belfast based composer  Greg Caffrey to create a new work to be performed by their 50 strong string group through the Per Cent for Arts Scheme. The work also  includes a new school anthem. The launch of these works by Greg and Caroline Conway’s beautifully carved and inked, low relief woodcut wall piece will take place at the school on Friday 27 May at 1pm.

It’s a busy time for Greg as he is off to Paris to work at the Cité Internationale des Arts for the months of June and July. This is his second visit there (the last being 5 years ago) and he will use this time, appropriately, to write a new work for Matthew McAlister for 10 string guitar based on music by François Couperin. This work will feature alongside Couperin’s music on a new album by the Scottish guitarist.
