The Irish Chamber Orchestra will perform a Elaine Agnew‘s Strings-A-Stray, a work commissioned by them in 1994, as part of a concert celebrating Ireland’s EU Presidency.

The 2013 National Symphony Orchestra Horizons series starts this week, with a concert of music by Linda Buckley, including works composed during her time as RTÉ Composer-in-Residence, such as chiyo, and Surge. Preceded by a talk with the composer and CMC director Evonne Ferguson.

A performance by bassoon-player Pascal Gallois in France will feature works by Piaras Hoban and Jessie Ronneau.

The Con Brio Sligo Music Series continues with a performance by the RTÉ Vanbrugh Quartet of a programme of Mozart, Schubert and the 2011 commissioned work Mr. Shah stares to the heavens by Deirdre McKay.
