Jennifer Walshe has been announced as the curator of the 2014 contemporary music and sound art Spor Festival in Denmark.
The Spor festival takes place in Aarhus, the second-largest city in Denmark, and aims to create a platform for connections to the international sound art and music scenes, enabling exchanges between Danish and international artists.
Each year the festival selects a guest curator to collaborate with the festival directors, and for 2014 the festival organisers will be working with London-based Irish composer and performer Jennifer Walshe.
The 2014 festival takes place from 8–11 May and will focus on the ability of the individual artist to take on multiple roles, for example composers who are engaged through their activities as performers, filmmakers, installation artists, writers. According to the festival web site, “this spirit of openness, of spreadability, of an expanded sense of engagement and the joy and curiosity which accompany it is key to the composers and performers presented.”
A call for submission of proposals for new works for the festival has also been opened by the organisers. The deadline for proposals is 25 November and full details of the call are available here.
