CMC Library Update for November and December 2014

This update from the library features some of the works added to its collection during the last two months of 2014. In November and December, works from 26 different composers were added to the CMC online library catalogue. Selected works include:

Commissioned by Wicklow County Council under the Per Cent for Art Scheme, funded by the Department of the Environment on behalf of Music Generation Wicklow, managed and produced by the Contemporary Music Centre.
Premiered by children of the schools of Newtownmountkennedy, St. Bridgets Greystones and St. Laurences Roundwood with conductor Elaine Agnew on 8 June 2014 at New Notes Now! New Music by Irish Composers for County Wicklow, Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Co. Wicklow.

John Buckley (1951-) Alla Luna
Premiered by Ensemble Resonabilis on 10 October 2014 at the Irish Writer’s Centre, Dublin.
This work is written for solo kannel, an Estonian plucked zither.

Fergal Dowling (1965-) Three Reconstructions
Premiered by Dublin Sound Lab on 18 September 2014 at Dublin Sound Lab: Responses, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, Dublin.

Eric Skytterholm Egan (1983-) …in some or other Oasis…
Premiered by Telemark Chamber Orchestra on 23 September 2014 at Akershus Castle Church, Oslo, Norway.
This work can be performed by any number of string players, from 4 – 14, with the proviso that each of the four sets of parts must be represented by at least one musician.

Frank Lyons (1964-) Thud
Commissioned by Concorde, and premiered by them on 24 March 2013 at Concorde: Up Close with Music, RHA Gallery, Dublin.

Bernadette Marmion (1938-) The Thoughtful Moon
Commissioned by The National Concert Hall for the prizewinning recital of the winner of the 2013 Bernadette Greevy Bursary.
Premiered by Jennifer Davis (S-solo) and Aoife O’Sullivan (pf) on 4 November 2014 at the John Field Room, National Concert Hall, Dublin.
This song is a setting of a poem by John Freeman.

Matthew Rowan (1979-) Taught to Believe
Taught To Believe is a creative exploration of the concept of brainwashing and its various secular and non-secular applications in day-to-day living.
Composed for and dedicated to Mak Grgic.
