Frank Corcoran has a number of upcoming performances and broadcasts this spring

Hamburg-based Irish composer Frank Corcoran has several performances coming up this spring, including two premieres in the US and Ireland, as well as broadcasts on German radio.

On 15 February in New York, the North South Consonance Orchestra and conductor Max Lifchitz give the world premiere of his new work for string orchestra, Quasi Una Storia. The composer writes about this work:

‘As its “Quasi” title suggests , this one-movement work is all about how music tells its own story, narrates the vicissitudes of its tones presented, their wanderings and adventures and tonal shenannigans.’

Following this, cellist Martin Johnson will perform Corcoran’s Cello Concerto with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra on 13 March at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

Frank Corcoran also features on German airwaves with a broadcast of a radio portrait on him on Hessen 2 – Kultur (Frankfurt Radio) on 5 March, and the composer’s ‘Radiophonic Analysis’ of Mozart’s “Jupiter” and Symphony No. 29, along with a broadcast of Corcoran’s Symphony No. 4 as recorded by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and Colman Pearce.
