Clare Memory Orchestra perform new works and arrangements by Dave Flynn at the Feakle International Festival of Traditional Music

cmoThe concert, which takes place as part of the Co. Clare festival, will feature composer Dave Flynn’s Clare Memory Orchestra along with fiddle and guitar duo Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, and accordionist Mairtín O’Connor. The conductor is Bjorn Bantock.

The programme will include the premiere of an extract from Flynn’s Clare Concerto, commissioned by the Arts Office of Clare County Council, new arrangements of a movement from his 2008 fiddle concerto for Martin Hayes, Aontacht, and Music for the Departed, along with orchestrations by Flynn of tunes by Mairtín O’Connor, Liz Carroll, Peadar Ó Riada, and ancient Irish airs, jigs & reels.

Founded by Dave Flynn in 2012, the Clare Memory Orchestra combines some of Ireland’s leading traditional and classical musicians to create a distinctive new sound. The orchestra plays from memory and includes Mairtín O’Connor as honorary guest member, and Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill as Artists in Association.

The concert takes place at St Mary’s Church, Feakle, Co. Clare, on 9 August at 7.30pm. Tickets are available here.
